Win or Lose, Rams Can Enjoy the Denver Scene

The Rocky Mountain Showdown at Sports Authority Field against the CU Buffs is always the first event of the year to get students pumped. This year, the game will kick off at 7 p.m. leaving time before and after the game to experience the Denver area for all its glory.

MillerCoors Brewery

13 and Fort St., Golden

If tailgating isn’t for you — or if you want a little buzz before the pregame — those 21 and older can go to Coors Brewery for a brew tour with family and friends. The free tour is available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Illegal Pete’s

1530 16th St. Mall #103

We can’t forget about the grub. Illegal Pete’s — which will be making its first appearance in Fort Collins this coming year — is close to the stadium and its Mexican food may just be a step-up from Chipotle (Yes, we said it).

Off Federal

Home to authentic Mexican food, good margaritas and unique food, this restaurant stands conveniently within walking distance of Sports Authority Stadium.

16th Street Mall, Market Street and Larimer Square

1430 Larimer St. #200

Just blocks away from each other, these attractions are not only filled with delicious restaurants to choose from, but also shopping and plenty of bars. Many of these places have happy hours that range from 1-4 p.m. or 3-6 p.m.

Blake Street

Located right across from Coors Field, and offering many sports bars including Blake Street Tavern, The Sports Column and Jackson’s, this is the place for those of you craving more athletic action.

Elitch Gardens

2000 Elitch Circle

If you are feeling rather spontaneous today and need to get your thrills out before the game, Elitch Gardens, viewable from the stadium, is an easy hop over the highway and offers some serious amusement park fun (It is not recommended to drink before).

Make the most of your time in Denver by taking some time before or after the Showdown to explore. Even if you are bitter about the end results, Denver is a sure way to lift your spirits … just no bar fights over the game, please.
