Emma Winters, Social Media Coordinator
Emma Winters, the social media coordinator at The Collegian, is passionate about combining her skills in social media and visual storytelling to inform the public about important and pressing topics.
After she found her way to Fort Collins from Los Angeles, Winters decided to pursue a degree in journalism and media communications. Now a third-year student, Winters was always drawn to working at The Collegian but had never found a role that fit what she had in mind. While she loved photography, she didn’t want to be out covering news stories all day, and while writing articles seemed interesting, interviewing people had never been her favorite. So, when the role of social media coordinator came across her inbox, she knew she had found the perfect position for her.
When she’s not scrolling on social media to get content ideas, Winters enjoys spending her days in Fort Collins with her friends. You can find her reading at City Park, taking a dip in Horsetooth Reservoir or getting the newest ice cream flavor from Edison’s.
In a digital age, Winters knows how hard it is to get people to pick up a physical copy of a newspaper. That is why she strives to capture the attention of the local community and students using the one thing they are sure to be on: social media. As she steps into her role at The Collegian, Winters plans to bring along her past experiences and transform the way people see the newspaper digitally. By spreading awareness on topics in the community through social media, she hopes to boost engagement and create an environment where more young people can get excited about news and stay informed.
