Fake noose found in CSU residence hall amidst University attempts to address racial tensions

Two days before classes started, Elijah Thomas found a noose constructed of crepe paper dangling from the stairs in front of his floors’ entrance. As the only Black/African-American resident on his floor, police and CSU residence life considered it a targeting incident. In the moments that followed, Thomas took a video of the noose and posted it on Facebook. In the days that followed, Colorado State University would respond with emails, meetings and statements.
