Seymour: Searching for off-campus housing is demanding

Charlotte Seymour, Collegian Columnist November 13, 2024
As the semester comes to an end, most first-year students are thinking about completing assignments, taking holiday breaks and seeing family. Searching for off-campus housing is doubtlessly at the bottom of everyone’s to-do list.

Seriously: Humor is in the eye of joke-teller

Leah Stephenson, Collegian Columnist November 11, 2024
Stand-up comedians have it all wrong. Telling a story or having a good punchline isn’t what makes someone funny. Even when people aren’t comedians, they like to be funny because it helps make friends. I often find that in social scenarios, the people who fare the best are the funny ones. However, most don’t go about humor in the right way.

Waskey: 3rd-party voting is possible but not successful

Chloe Waskey, Collegian Columnist November 10, 2024
In a time where basic political engagement can mean voting against your own ideologies, it is understandably tempting to vote third party. Why vote for the lesser of two evils when there is an option that doesn’t seem evil at all? I am admittedly sympathetic to those that vote third party. If I believe that complacence equals violence, how can I vote for a candidate that is complacent in the face of a genocide? As a more left leaning democrat, I have had issues with the Biden administration and I have issues with Kamala Harris’s policies. It feels like I am contradicting my own ideologies by voting for Harris.

Souza: To women: It’s OK to not be OK

Emma Souza, Collegian Columnist November 7, 2024
You do not owe your composure to anyone. Not to the men who remain indifferent to your rights but detest your anger. Not to the politicians who speak over you in conversations about your body. Not even to the 47th President of the United States, who, despite having a mother, a wife and a daughter, will never respect a woman enough to let her live with the fraction of a man’s freedom.

Weishaar: Fat girls deserve cute clothes, too

Audrey Weishaar, Collegian Columnist November 4, 2024
I like to say I am a fashionable person. I like to wear nice clothes, and I generally have a good time putting together an outfit. The process of picking out accessories is fun.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live inside the movie “We Bought a Zoo?" Well, if you've lived in a dorm room, you may already know.

Let’s talk about best, worst horror movies ever released

Riley Paling, Staff Reporter November 3, 2024

'Tis the season for pumpkin spice, carving pumpkins and, most importantly, Halloween movies. Today, I am here to give you my top three and bottom three movies in the classic horror genre. 'Halloween'...

Naiditch: Niche Halloween costumes are bad idea

Ava Naiditch, Collegian Columnist October 31, 2024
Picture this: You’re at a Halloween party, and you see a person in the middle of the room standing head to toe in a glimmering silver outfit with glitter all over their face. You think, "Obviously they’re a disco ball, or maybe they’re the Tin Man from 'The Wizard of Oz.'" Wrong! Isn’t it obvious? They’re Joan of Arc — duh!

Two years ago, I found myself in the doctor’s office. The prognosis was bad. They had me lying down on a table, poking prongs and stethoscopes into my orifices like I was in a real-life game of Operation and they couldn’t get the wishbone out of my chest. I’m not a religious girl, but I prayed a lot that day.

Seriously: Costumes you, your boo should wear on Halloween

Hana Pavelko, Collegian Columnist October 31, 2024
It is well known that the “-ber” months are some of the most significant times of the year for couples. Going to pumpkin patches, watching spooky movies in matching pajamas and baking are on most couple’s bucket list as we approach the fall season.

Lopez: Homecoming activities should extend throughout whole week

Dominique Lopez, Opinion Editor October 30, 2024
Now, I know what you must be thinking. You read the title of this article and thought, "But isn’t Homecoming mostly for the alumni of Colorado State University? Why would we want to extend the activities to occur throughout the week?" The answer is because there are students like me who work all weekend and would like to partake in the festivities, too.
