CSU System Chancellor Mike Martin announced Monday that he will step down from his position March 1, according to a press release. Martin has held his current position as Chancellor since 2012.

The Board will announce details on a plan for filling the chancellor role before Martin steps down.
Martin will continue to work on issues related to agriculture, Native American programs, the future of higher education and collegiate athletics while based in Denver.
“For both personal and professional reasons, it’s time for me to wind down my long career in higher education,” Martin said in the press release. “This arrangement will allow me to continue to serve the CSU System by focusing on issues that I care deeply about.”
Martin worked with higher education before joining the CSU System. His previous positions include chancellor at Louisiana State University and president of New Mexico State University.
The Justin Smith Morrill Memorial Award was presented to Martin in 2007, recognizing his service of the land-grant mission.
