Mountain West announces new conference title sponsor

The Mountain West has found a new sponsor. The Air Force Reserve will serve as the conference’s newest title sponsor, the conference announced Tuesday in a statement. During the 2018-2019 season, the annual MW men’s and women’s basketball championships will be named the 2019 Air Force Reserve Mountain West Basketball Championships. The championships will still be held at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas from March 10-16.

Along with the title sponsorship, the Air Force Reserve will also be the presenting sponsor of the conference’s Olympic sports which includes: men’s and women’s cross country, women’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field, women’s and men’s golf, women’s and men’s tennis and baseball as well.

The MW football championship game will also have marketing support from the Air Force Reserve.

The Air Force Reserve allows reserve citizen airmen to continue or further advance their educations while also serving close to home. The Air Force Reserve also offers different part-time jobs for those serving with benefits that include tuition assistance and low-cost health insurance.

“Throughout the Mountain West, there is an appreciation for the sacrifice and service of those who volunteer to protect our freedoms, at home and abroad,” MW Commissioner Craig Thompson said on behalf of the conference. “We are proud to welcome the Air Force Reserve to the Mountain West and look forward to working with our new partners to both raise awareness of the important work done by this critical unit of our nation’s defense and support the endeavors of our student-athletes.”
