CSU will be represented by two players on the Mountain West Global All-Star women’s volleyball team. Rising seniors Marlee Reynolds and Kelsey Snider will travel amongst 10 players to Venice, Italy and Pula,Croatia from July 8-19, 2014, the team announced Tuesday.
“It’s a unique experience for these two players,” head coach Tom Hilbert said in a statement released by the athletic department. “They get to witness volleyball in a different country while playing in a highly competitive tournament. It’ll be a life experience they’ll never forget, and will help them become better players individually and for our team.”

Eight of the MW’s 11 teams are represented on the all-start team, which is coached by 2012 MW Coach of the Year Deitre Collins-Parker of San Diego State. The team includes two setters, one libero, four middle blockers and five outside hitters.
Players found out over winter break about this opportunity where they will get a first hand look at what it takes to play on the national level. The MW Global All-Star team will compete against junior National teams from Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia as well as club teams from Italy, Serbia, Austria and Romania
“It is an honor to be picked and go over these and do that, especially because it is the first time they have done it,” Reynolds said. “I think it should be a cool experience and I’m just excited for this opportunity to go over there. I am pretty lucky.
Over the last season, Snider was one of three all-star players named to the 2013 All-Mountain West team ranking third on the team in kills (2.6 per set) and second in blocks (1.04 per set).
Reynolds supported the Rams with 3.06 kills and 3.45 points per set, both ranking ninth in the MW as well as earning 18 occasions of double-digit figures in kills.
“I think this will keep motor skills active,” Snider said. “If you do not play volleyball for a while, your skills are going to go down. So I think this will help us know and give us an insight on how other people their all-stars play and bringing those picks back to Colorado State.”
