Two Transfort drivers test positive for COVID-19

Two bus drivers for Transfort, including drivers for the Horn, have tested positive for COVID-19 and are now in self-quarantine, according to the City of Fort Collins.

The last time the drivers reported for work was Oct. 6 and 7, a City press release reports. They tested positive on Oct. 8 and 9, respectively.

“Out of an abundance of caution,” the City release provided the list of routes the drivers operated in the period before their diagnosis.

  • Flex Service, #76 – Oct. 3, 6:24-11:19 a.m.
  • Horn Service, #96 – Oct. 5, 6:55-10:44 a.m.
  • Route 3 and 31, #68 – Oct. 6, 7:20-10:30 a.m.
  • Route 81, #86 – Oct. 6, 6:37 a.m. to 1:57 p.m.
  • Horn Service, #96 – Oct. 7, 6:52 a.m. to 1:44 p.m.

One of the routes was Around the Horn, the shuttle system that goes around Colorado State University’s main campus.

Passengers who rode those routes should be mindful if any symptoms develop. Potential symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, fatigue, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, according to the CSU website.

It is believed that the virus spreads through respiratory droplets during close contact. According to the CSU website, masks and social distancing can mitigate spread.

In accordance with mitigation measures, Transfort requires all passengers to wear face masks during the ride and only use the rear doors for boarding and leaving the bus. Drivers wear personal protective equipment, and bus interiors are disinfected every night.

During the spring, three Transfort drivers were reported to have tested positive for the virus, according to press releases from the City
