The Lyric Cinema Cafe in Old Town has nearly reached its $150,000 fundraising goal to purchase digital projectors it would need to stay in business.
Its campaign has been run through Kickstarter, a website that allows individuals and organizations to “crowd source” financial donations by offering perks to its “backers.”
Currently 2,020 people have donated more than $143,000 to the Lyric.
Those wishing to donate have until Monday, August 6 to give money, but the catch is that if the Lyric doesn’t completely reach its $150,000 goal it won’t receive any of the money.
