Update (Friday 5 p.m.):
Charges have been filed against the suspected perpetrator of the recent series of assaults in Fort Collins, according to a police press release.
Fort Collins resident Jose Angel Alderete-Gomez faces the following charges:
Count I – Assault in the Second Degree
Count II – Unlawful Sexual Contact
Count III – Harassment
Count IV – Assault in the Third Degree
Count V – Assault in the Third Degree
Count VI – Habitual Criminal
Count VII – Habitual Criminal
Count VIII – Habitual Criminal
These charges are merely accusations, as the investigation is still ongoing.
“We are unable to conclude anything before completing a few investigative items and forensic analysis,” said Fort Collins Police Officer Matt Johnson. “We will continue to move forward in the investigation until it’s successfully completed.”

Fort Collins resident Jose Angel Alderete-Gomez was arrested by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office in relation to an Oct. 8 assault against a woman riding her bike along the Highway 1 corridor, according to a press release.
The arrest was made Nov. 21, and the Oct. 8 incident prompting the arrest is believed to be connected to a multitude of other attacks against women this fall. Fort Collins Police Services are continuing to investigate these remaining cases.
