Students came to a lecture hall in Morgan Library Thursday to participate in a Japanese Bon dance, a traditional Japanese custom to honor dead spirits. The dance takes place in either August or September, and it is usually danced outside with drums. Because it is a summer tradition, the kimonos are made using cotton and are called “Yukatas.” Kimonos are worn for special occasions, like this dance and other holidays. The dance at Colorado State University was not only for Japanese students, but for anybody interested in learning about Japanese culture and traditions.
