First it was Edwards Hall, then they struck at Ingersoll Hall, Canvas Stadium, the Colorado State University Police Department and Moby Arena. By night, an anonymous person known as the “CSU pisser” has been urinating in various locations on campus and posting videos of the crime to TikTok under the account named @coloradostate.pisser.
The “CSU pisser” is just one of many so-called “pissers” around the nation involved in an internet trend where individuals urinate on college campuses nightly and post a video of the act to audio clips from the popular crime and drama show “Dexter.” The audios typically include ominous music and lines such as, “Tonight’s the night, and it’s going to happen again and again,” or, “The Bay Harbor Butcher, you know the nickname.”
“I hope they can reveal who they are so that we can confirm that it’s a freshman or not. Because if it’s not, that’s embarrassing.” -Shay Davis, CSU student
The identity of the anonymous “CSU pisser” has not yet been revealed, but their account has garnered over 5,000 followers and 60,000 likes in under a week. Many students at CSU came across the account unknowingly.
“It’s so random,” said Ella Wood, a CSU student. “I hadn’t heard anything about it when my cousin sent me the TikTok. Now I see stuff about it everywhere.”
The Collegian reached out to the “CSU pisser” but was unable to obtain an interview.
CSU is not the first university to be met with this behavior. In fact, the trend suddenly emerged last month before gaining widespread attention, inspiring people at dozens of universities to become their school’s official “pisser.”
CSU’s rival school, the University of Colorado Boulder, had a “pisser” who appeared days before CSU’s and quickly became popular, gaining over 100,000 views in just a few days.
Nik Olsen, the director for crisis communication at CSU, condemned the acts in an email statement.
“Depositing bodily waste in public is a crime,” Olsen said.
The trend has since sparked somewhat of a manhunt for these university “pissers,” with several TikTok accounts labeling themselves as the “pisser catchers” of their school. These catchers post videos on TikTok that show them patrolling their campuses nightly, looking to expose the identity of the notorious “pissers.”
CSU has its very own catcher posting under the TikTok account name @csu.detectivedoakes, but the anonymous individual has not yet successfully revealed the identity of the “CSU pisser.”
In line with the “Dexter” theme, the “CSU pisser catcher” uses the same audios from the show as well as a profile picture of a recently popular meme depicting the “Dexter” character James Doakes intensely investigating crime.
“I hope they can reveal who they are so that we can confirm that it’s a freshman or not,” said Shay Davis, a CSU student. “Because if it’s not, that’s embarrassing.”
One theory circulating among students is that the “CSU pisser” and the “CSU pisser catcher” may be the same person, but no evidence has come to light to suggest this is the case.
The Collegian reached out to the “CSU pisser catcher” but did not receive a response.
Several students said they think the “CSU pisser” will not stop due to the “CSU pisser catcher” but, rather, will probably retreat once they lose attention.
“If he doesn’t get caught, I give it two months — max,” said Sam McNab, a CSU student. “But it is very entertaining for now.”
In light of the trend’s popularity, multiple other accounts have taken to anonymously leaving some sort of excrement around their campuses and posting videos of the act to TikTok. A much smaller population of posters have designated themselves as “shitters” and likely do not need further explanation.
While CSU does not have a notorious “shitter,” it does have a “CSU Creamer”, who appears to be far less popular on TikTok than the “CSU pisser.” The “creamer” most notably struck at a statue of CSU’s mascot, CAM the Ram.
“At least it’s not a shitter,” CSU student Luis Alcala said.
