Looking to try an outdoor activity this summer? Pick up some new skills with a variety of classes, clinics and day trips offered by local outdoor specialists. It has never been easier to get outside with the help of REI and the City of Fort Collins Outdoor Recreation program.
REI holds regular classes on Wednesday evenings. These classes are free to the public and take place at the REI Fort Collins store on South College Avenue. REI team members educate participants on a number of basic outdoor skills. Classes start at 6:30 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.; no registration is required.

The outdoor co-op also hosts outings and day trips. These trips often have a fee associated with them, depending on the duration, type and intesity. Both members and non-members are welcome. Register online at rei.com.

The City of Fort Collins Outdoor Recreation Program:
Fort Collins’ Parks and Recreation Department hosts programs that will challenge any outdoor enthusiast, while also fostering social interaction and community bonding. Their day hikes are guided and cost between $25-30. Trips leave at 8 a.m. and return around 4:30 p.m.
Lost Glacier- Wyoming

Views include several alpine lakes, Snowy Range peaks and lots of wildflowers. Note: Moderate; mileage 4 miles; lowest elevation 10800 feet.; highest elevation: 11000 feet.
B-17 Bomer site (Pingree Park)
Wednesday, July 20
This hike includes wonderful views around the boulder field crash site. Note: Moderate, mileage 5 miles; lowest elevation: 9000 feet; highest elevation 10300 feet.
Mummy Pass Trail
Thursday, July 28
Trek to the Timberline with views galore. Note: Challenging; mileage: 9 miles; lowest elevation 9000 feet.; highest elevation 10800 feet.
Due to recent construction and remodeling, REI’s Fort Collins store has canceled all upcoming Wednesday night classes. They are expected to begin again in Septmember. All paid Outdoor School classes will continue as normal. For registration and more information, visit rei.com.
