Editor’s note: After completing the interview with Jen and McKenzie Hoffman, the reporter was hired at Blue Harvest Apparel.
Creative entrepreneurial sisters, Jen and McKenzie Hoffman, have channeled their passion for being business partners together into their very own apparel and home goods store, Blue Harvest Apparel.
Located in the heart of Old Town at 115 E. Mountain Ave., just around the corner from their other business, Starry Night Espresso Café, Blue Harvest encompasses an eclectic variety of simple basics, premium denim and Colorado necessities.
“We try to balance everything throughout the store to make it a relaxed, functional feel,” McKenzie said. “We really wanted something that had a Colorado chic feel to it.”
After a year and a half in the making, the Hoffman’s big day is finally here, opening their doors to the Fort Collins community to offer a wide range of apparel and home goods.
The grand opening event is scheduled for this Thursday from 4-7 p.m. and will give customers a first glimpse at their spring line. It will also include exclusive giveaway opportunities throughout the evening.
“The demographics are pretty broad at this point, but our brands look to college students, young professionals and the contemporary woman,” McKenzie said.
Blue Harvest brings a rare, worldly mix to it’s already historical building, where shoppers will feel like they stepped into a marketplace in Bali.
Whether looking for the perfect basic essential outfit, or a cozy blanket to cuddle up in or a colorfully designed yoga mat, this boho contemporary inspired shop radiates nothing but positivity.
“I used to be in the healing arts industry doing massage and yoga, so that is what’s so cool about our store, is how it has a little lifestyle yoga kind of vibe to a part of it,” Jen said.
The Hoffman sisters want to spread more than just unique fashion and home décor.
“Good vibes and positivity are really what we want to give,” they said.
One of their lines, ‘good hYOUman,’ gives positivity with a twist. Ranging from about $35-60, this line has the perfect motivational tops.
Another line that Blue Harvest adores is Joah Brown, their staple basic that pays attention to functionality and detail.
“Everyone loves its buttery soft fabric, unique cuts and festival feel,” McKenzie said.
Perhaps some of the most unique things Blue Harvest offers are one-of-a-kind products that fit the outdoors lifestyle of Fort Collins and Coloradoans alike. They even have a “glamping” (glamour camping) section.
“We are major glampers, so we wanted to have a selection of outdoor gear to look stylin’ in,” McKenzie said.
With new pieces being put out onto the floor weekly, this new shop will be a great addition to Old Town, adding a variety of lines from L.A and even India.
Although the Hoffman sisters grew up in California, they have become true Colorado girls that are ready to share their creativity with Fort Collins in a new way.
Excited to get their store up and running, they both said, “We hope to be here every day.”
Head into Blue Harvest Apparel to meet the inspirational sisters and shop in the store they have created weekdays 11-6 p.m. and weekends 10-7 p.m.
