“Before I Go to Sleep,” about an amnesia-ridden wife, played by Nicole Kidman, who can’t seem to trust her husband (Colin Firth), or her doctor (Mark Strong).
“Horns,” Daniel Radcliffe‘s latest attempt to not be Harry Potter.
Best Netflix Movies I saw last week:
“Das Boot: Director’s Cut” — “Troy” director Wolfgang Peterson created this film about one U-Boat crew in WWII. It is recognized as one of the best German films of all time, and received six Oscar nominations. It’s basically “Fury,” but with underwater Germans.
“Metropolis: Restored” — If you can handle long silent films, this is a must-watch. German-made “Metropolis” is the first feature-length sci-fi film ever made. It takes place in a futuristic city where an android is used to drive the people to revolution. The golden android was the basis for C-3PO.
“Killing Them Softly” — Produced by the same studio as “12 Years a Slave” and starring Brad Pitt, this film is a simple crime thriller that assesses the moral troubles faced by crime lords and hitmen.
“Cold Mountain” — Starring Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and Renée Zellweger, this moving Civil War drama received seven Oscar nominations and won Best Supporting Actress for Zellweger.
