Ag Council is hosting a fundraiser Dec. 8. for a Colorado State University for an alumni family member diagnosed with cancer. The event will be at Sundance Steakhouse and Saloon, and will start at 6 p.m.
“It’s going to be a blast,” said Kristen Grave, an Ag Council officer. “It’s a break from finals. Everyone can come out, dress fancy, dance and have fun.”
Grave said since they are an agriculture-based organization, Sundance was a good place to hold the event. She also said they are planning on many people attending the event.
“The Ag Council is centered around student engagement and involvement,” said Alexa Johnson, Ag Council events officer. “We are a new organization so we wanted to put our name on something meaningful that would get a bunch of people involved.”
The Ag Council works to bring student organizations together and help them be involved with each other.
Johnson said officers worked together to come up with the idea for the benefit, and were motivated because they all enjoy dancing. Grave said all the officers are involved in other clubs as well, including Rodeo and the Farmhouse Fraternity.
Johnson said there were a number of challenges in planning the event. Johnson also said it was difficult because Ag Council is a new organization and no one knows what they do yet.
The benefit is also planned to be a large event for their small group to put on, so it required a lot of work. Johnson and Grave handled the invitations, social media, food, decorations and more.
“We want people to come so we can make a difference for the community,” Johnson said.
Pre-sale tickets are $7 and can be purchased by emailing Alexa Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday, Dec. 7. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10. Attendees are also asked to bring a new toy to donate the Larimer County’s Toys for Tots. The event is open to the public. At the event there will be music, dancing, appetizers and a cash bar. The attire of the benefit is semi-formal.
