News of the announcement came in Friday, Jan. 29 that Jack Graham, Colorado State University’s former athletic director, had announced he would be entering the 2016 election race for a Senate seat.
He, along with about a dozen other candidates, will be competing for current senator Michael Bennet’s seat in the U.S. Senate, according to ColoradoPeakPolitics.
Graham started as as athletic director at CSU in Dec. 2011, and was terminated from his position in Aug. 2014 for “substantial differences” in their views, according to an article published in the Denver Post in 2014.
Graham has hired Dick Wadhams, the former chair of the Colorado Republican Party, as his campaign manager, and has already made a $1 million deposit into his campaign account, according to the Denver Post.
Graham is planning to petition his way onto the ballot, the Denver Post said.
