Wednesday ten Republican candidates came together in Boulder to debate issues Americans face, according to the Cannabist.
Rand Paul, Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie, and John Kasich were asked questions for nearly three hours. Carl Quintanilla, the debate mediator, covered many topics, including marijuana.
“Let’s talk about marijuana,” Quintanilla said during the debate. “We are broadcasting from Colorado, which has seen $150 million in new revenue for the state since legalizing last year.”
He noted that Governor Hickenlooper has never fully supported the legalization of marijuana, but that those who were smoking before are still smoking now, just in a regulated market.
Current Governor of Ohio, John Kasich, made it clear that he believes marijuana is a dangerous drug.
“Sending mixed signals to kids about drugs is a disaster,” Kasich said. “Drugs is one of the greatest scourges in this country.”
Many presidential candidates have yet to take a stance on the topic of legal marijuana. To read more about the debate in Boulder, check out the full story.
