Now that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been in office for over two weeks, he is taking a closer look at the nation’s current marijuana regulations. According to Weed Maps, Trudeau wrote to lawmakers asking them to prepare statutes that will legalize marijuana in Canada.
“I will expect you to work with your colleagues and through established legislative, regulatory, and Cabinet processes to deliver on your top priorities [including] a federal-provincial-territorial process that will lead to the legalization and regulation of marijuana,” Treudeau wrote.
Jody Wilson-Raybould, the Canadian minister of justice and attorney general, will team up with Ministers of Public Safety to rewrite the law. For more on legal marijuana in Canada, check out the full story.
