It is officially fall shopping season! You can finally try on all of those chunky sweaters and cozy scarves that you’ve been gazing at in the fall catalogs. But before you frantically run out of your house and impulse buy the first thing you see that has a leaf on it, check out this three-step system that is designed to meet the needs of a shopaholic on a college student budget.
Step 1- Bargain Shop:
My Best Friend’s Closet- 1103 W Elizabeth St
Plato’s Closet-4372 S College Ave
Repeat Boutique- 1502 S College Ave and 3307 S College Ave # 115
Check out these stores first. You will definitely find something that is fashionable and affordable. The biggest mistake a shopper can make is underestimating the value of consignment shops. You can find designer styles at great prices in these stores. I have found comfy Abercrombie & Fitch sweatshirts for under $15 and Victoria Secret sweatpants for less than $10. You can’t beat that.
Step 2- Best bang for your buck:
TJ Maxx- 4366 S. College Ave #F
Old Navy-108 W Troutman Pkwy
Murices- Foothills Mall, 215 E Foothills Pkwy
Go to these stores next. They provide quality items at reasonable prices. I recommend getting your fall essentials (jackets, jeans, boots, etc.) here. But don’t forget the fall staples like cardigans and slouchy t-shirts that you can accessorize to dress up or down. It’s easy to find an outfit that you can transform from comfy class wear to night out at Old Town for less than $50. Think multi-use to get the best bang for your buck.
Step 3- Shop to accessorize:
Kansas City Kitty Location- 136 N College Ave
GG Boutique- 204 West Laurel St
Cira- 21 Old Town Square
Tula Contemporary Women’s Clothing- 1 Old Town Square
Now it is time for the fun part. You are going to love everything in these Old Town boutiques. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford these prices, especially on a student budget. But don’t fear…you can still shop here. After you complete most of your fall shopping at the previously mentioned stores, determine one item that you can use to accessorize multiple outfits with and buy it at one of these boutiques. For example, you can buy a super comfortable cardigan or a leather jacket. Items like these can be worn with countless fall outfits. And don’t forget that a trendy scarf or jewelry can go a long way to spice up a simple outfit.
