“Almost half of young people have no idea about traditional jobs that were once the backbone of the construction industry – such as welders, glaziers and masons. And a worrying survey of 16-35 year olds found 20% thought electricians worked in the entertainment industry creating electronic music. Only 51% described correctly what welders did, along with 48% for glaziers and 39% for dredgers, the study by building insurance siterevealed. Nearly all of the 2,000 people quizzed knew about lorry drivers, carpet layers, plumbers and plasterers.”
