With the rapid arrival of the winter season, beer drinkers have begun to look for those seasonal beers to accompany this time of year.
While everyone has been talking about all the pumpkin beers in recent weeks, there’s a very different seasonal beer on the way.
The CinnsationAle, brewed by Odell Brewing Company in partnership with the Silver Grill Cafe, will be released for the third year in a row. On Thursday the brew will be available at a release party at Odell Brewery, 800 E. Lincoln St., Fort Collins from 4-6 p.m. At this party the beer will be available as well as 200 free Silver Grill Cafe cinnamon rolls for those who attend.
The beer will be available throughout the season from the Odell brewery and on tap at the Silver Grill Cafe, while supplies last.
The beer itself was originally created three years ago, according to Heather Beckman, the managing partner at the Silver Grill Cafe.
“I make a cinnamon-caramel syrup that we were just gonna use the first year, but then Doug Odell agreed to brew it with us,” she said. “He told us that back in the day they used to use actual bread so we ran back to the restaurant and grabbed some cinnamon roles and used them.”
According to Beckman the beer resembles a fall brown ale that has definite hints of cinnamon and caramel.
“It’s very well rounded and isn’t super dark — it’s something that kind of appeals to everybody. We love collaborating with Odell,” she said. “They’re fantastic people and are very approachable.”
Beckman also noted that the release party has been a huge hit over the last three years with a line that goes out the door for a couple of hours.
“The beer tends to run out at [Odell’s] pretty fast and then we have it on tap in the restaurant for a couple months,” she said.
Plan some time to either get to the party or to Silver Grill Cafe for a chance to try it on tap with breakfast. The supplies will not last long if previous years are any indicator.
