Beat poet Gary Snyder is coming to the Colorado State University Center for the Arts Wednesday for a free poetry reading and book signing event. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Organ Recital Hall.
Snyder won the Pulitzer Prize in 1975 for his publication titled Turtle Island. He is a poet, essayist, lecturer and environmental activist who has published sixteen collections of poetry and prose. His work is closely tied with his love for nature, history and Zen Buddhism, according to his biography on the Poetry Foundation website.
Snyder has also been recognized as a poet of the San Francisco Renaissance alongside Jack Spicer and Robert Duncan. The CSU bookstore has a display of Gary Snyder’s books for purchase.
