During this holiday weekend, Fort Collins residents should control their alcohol consumption. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office will be increasing saturation patrols and creating roving DUI checkpoints throughout the city.
The times and locations of the checkpoints will not be released beforehand. The goal of all DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols is to decrease the number of impaired drivers on Colorado roadways and prevent drug and alcohol-related traffic fatalities.
As a reminder, driving under the influence of any drug is illegal — not just alcohol. According to the latest statistics from the Colorado Department of Transportation, the average DUI costs $10,270.
Each year, 26,000 drivers are arrested for DUI and 150 people die from alcohol-related accidents.
