As Greek Week kicked off, the event on Tuesday gave the chance for the Greek Week committee to explore the topic of “Making Greek Great.” They teamed up with Dr. Lori Hart who has an undergraduate degree in Education from Auburn University, a master’s degree in Education from the University of Montevallo and a doctorate degree in Higher Education from Georgia State University.
Dr. Lori Hart was able to explain to the Greek audience about the problems that Greek life has; that we always tend to hide and not see them. She took various ways to look at a Greek organization and compared how a Greek organization looks to the outside person if they saw things such as the website of the organization, the ideal member, and knowing about the stereotypes or looking at the worst member of any Greek organization.
She then stated solutions to adopt to overcome the problems of Greek Life as well. She informed the audience to have relationships with each other like the best relationship hey ever had. She talked about how every member of the Greek organization is a leader no matter what role they have in their organization and she also motivated the audience to achieve success not in terms of receiving awards, but always trying to be better to be the best each individual can be to calculate success for an organization.
The event helped the Greek Life community to be influenced by Dr. Lori Hart and helped in starting Greek Week off right. As Lip sync is scheduled to be on Wednesday as part of the third Greek Week even, all teams have been practicing for weeks to compete in the Lincoln Center at 7 pm and the audience will see who comes up with the best dance that is surrounded by the Harry Potter theme.
