Need an excuse to get outside, but don’t feel like going anywhere?
Looking for something to do while family is in town, but don’t want to spend a lot of money? Movies are expensive. These games are not.
For those of you who haven’t played, this game is fun and easy to set up. Here’s how to do it:
You’ll need two boxes or inclined flat surfaces with a hole in the middle each. Set them about 20 feet apart.
Two teams of two people face each other with people from opposing teams standing next to each other. There are six bean bags for each side. The game is played by tossing each bean bag (a total of six tries) and trying to get them to land in the hole in the box or table across from you.
A bean bag in the hole earns you three points, landing on the box earns one point and landing on the edge of the hole earns two points. Once the first person has tossed all of their bean bags, their total score is tallied and the opponent next to them goes.
The opponent has to cancel out the first person’s scored points before they can score any for their team. Once their turn is over, the board is cleared and the two people across repeat the same process. The first team to score 21 points wins!
How to turn it into a drinking game: The number of points whichever team is leading by at the end of each turn is the number of drinks the opposite team has to take (Let’s face it, you’re really drinking the whole time anyway.)
Life-Sized Beer Pong
Regular beer pong can get old quickly. Why not take the game outside? You can use buckets instead of cups (fill them with water, of course) and beach balls instead of ping-pong balls. House rules are the law, so be sure to establish those beforehand.
Fun new rules to try (borrowed from BuzzFeed):
King of the Hill: You have to include “I’ll tell you what” each time you speak
No cell-phones: Put your phone on the table. If you touch it at any point after the rule is passed, the rule maker gets to send a text to anyone in your phone without explanation
Ke$ha: Repeat the last word of everything you say (say)
Water Buffalo: Hold your drink with your non-dominant hand. If you are caught with it in your dominant hand, you have to drink the rest of what’s in your cup.
Get Down Mr. President: If the rule maker puts their hand to their ear like a Secret Service agent, everyone else has to copy them and the last person to do so gets tackled by everyone else.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. To make this work outside, use sanded beams of wood that are cut to equal lengths. You can try this with any number of pieces, but remember that you’ll want them to be some multiple of three.
Outdoor, Night Time Bowling
Find some cheap, clear water bottles and take off the labels. Fill them with water and put a glowstick inside of each! This is perfect for warm nights when people are reluctant to go back inside.
