After hours of interviews with all of the candidates for this year’s ASCSU election, we, the editorial board of The Rocky Mountain Collegian, officially endorse Chelsey Green and Kohl Webb for student body president and vice president for the 2014-15 academic year. We see incredible potential in the candidates, and encourage you to vote for them to be the biggest defenders of CSU students on campus.
Their initiatives — such as RamCash Return and implementing use of the iClicker app — are indicative of the student body as a whole and embody concerns of every Ram. Sam Guinn and Lance Li Puma’s initiatives seem to come from within ASCSU, Deep Badhesha and Naomi Lyle’s appear to come out of the organizations that they are part of and has a passion for, and Alex Corona and Iris Hentze’s are largely inspired by League of Legends and suggestions received during their campaign. Green’s campaign initiatives come from student feedback, which lets us know that they’re listening.
Green’s initiatives, requiring a budget to work with and a certain level of power, would require her to be in office in order for any of these ideas to come to fruition.
You may know Chelsey as the executive director of RamRide, and you may have seen Kohl working in the library. Both candidates have done considerable work in our University, and made differences that matter to CSU students. This amount of progress is bound to continue if these candidates are elected into office. They make promises that we would like to see.
Chelsey and Kohl handled themselves well during our interview. Green is tough, and is someone that you want advocating on your behalf. Webb’s marketing prowess will make ASCSU attainable to students, and we have faith that they will make students aware of how their fees are used, as opposed to vague budget updates that are open to wide interpretation.
According to Green and Webb, ASCSU isn’t broken, it’s just being used incorrectly. We want to see it being used in the ways which it was intended, believing that this is the campaign to get it there.
Unlock your legacy with Chelsey Green and Kohl Webb, and let’s look for ASCSU to make differences that the students of Colorado State University want to see.
