Under new Louisiana legislation, tattoos and welfare can no longer be linked, according to an article from The Town Talk newspaper. The new policy prohibits welfare recipients from purchasing tattoos with the money they receive.
Along with tattoos, new legislation prohibits using welfare for lingerie, nail salons and jewelry stores.
According to the article, “DCFS Secretary Suzy Sonnier said the agency decided to ban the use of electronic benefit cards, which work as debit cards, at stores that don’t sell items that are considered basic needs for families.”
Welfare can also not be used towards cruises, video arcades, bail bond companies and physics.
