Happy Friday everyone! We officially survived the first full week of 2014! While I’m not back in school yet (I wish I was), this week seemed to just drag on for me, and I know it was the same for those in school and work.
To wrap up the week, I’m resurrecting my ‘Fashion News Friday’ posts. I loved writing these because it was interesting to discover what was trending in the fashion world. This week was no different; there were a lot of interesting stories covering many different topics.
Without further ado, here’s what the week held in the fashion world:
Marc Jacobs revealed their spring campaign with none other than Miley Cyrus as the face of the brand. This is her first high fashion campaign, however, she has worked with Jacobs in the past, who put her on message tees raising awareness for skin cancer and gay marriage. Cyrus is essentially perfect in terms of the context of the campaign; her personal style fulfills Jacob’s edgy aesthetic, in addition to her being a trending household name ever since her controversial VMA performance back in August.

While 2013 was the year of DD (daily defense) creams, 2014 will be the year of the EE (extra exfoliation) cream. Technically called EE MarineGranules, an EE cream is a botanical-based marine mousse, added to a cleanser for more exfoliation. Will this compete with the BB phenomena of a few years ago? We will have to wait and see.

H&M revealed that David Beckham is going to be the star of their Super Bowl ad this year. During the commercial, H&M is going to offer consumers the option to shop via their televisions using their TV remotes. Not so fast, this option is only available via Samsung Smart TVs. H&M may be onto something big with this experimental “t-commerce.” If successful, they as well as other brands may use this method to attract more customers. Not only could this happen while watching advertisements, this could also happen while watching a show to be able to purchase the items our favorite TV stars wear in our favorite shows.

Have a good weekend!
