Pepsi Max has developed their marketing strategy around a satyrical storyline about an “aged” basketball player and his journey towards playing competitive street-hoops.
Cleveland Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving is the star of the series, playing the role of “Uncle Drew”. Irving—a No. 1 overall draft pick in the NBA—is dressed as a elderly man who has probably seen the best of his basketball says pass him. He surprises the crowds by starting off playing bad—ultimately morphing into a player who can shoot 3 pointers, dunk a ball and juke teenage opponents.
As the series progressed into a second episode, Minnesota Timberwolves star forward Kevin Love was introduced as a friend of Uncle Drew.
The third episode of the Uncle Drew series was released on Monday. Two new cast members were introduced. One is Denver Nuggets star Nate Robinson—the three-time NBA Dunk Champion.
See the above video to watch how Robinson can handle the court with “replaced hips”.
