An open house will be held tonight from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to address community concerns about an underpass construction project in campus west.
The City of Fort Collins and Colorado State University have teamed up to build an underpass at the Shields and Elizabeth intersection. The open house event will be hosted in the Bob Davis Hall in Moby Arena, located on Moby’s south concourse just behind the display cases of the CSU Hall of Fame.
The open house will address community concerns and show a design concept display of what the proposed underpass will look like.
The underpass will run parallel to Elizabeth on the south side of the street.
City and CSU officials will be present to address potential impacts to pedestrian, vehicle and bike traffic. They will also request feedback from residents, business owners, CSU students, faculty and staff.
“The meeting will have a different format from those previously hosted… and will include four tables with specific content for people to get more information on.” said Fred Haberecht, the Assistant Director of Facilities of CSU.
The four tables will specific questions, such as why the location was chosen, how other projects are increasing campus access, and what other details the underpass may include according to Haberecht.
The project was initiated about a year ago when a feasibility study deemed the project doable and according to Haberecht community feedback thus far has been good.
