Like a marathon runner hitting the proverbial brick wall, October is the month where college students either carry on or slam their faces against the brick. Each of us is likely sitting in multiple exams that make up a significant portion of our grades, and will determine how ‘well’ we are performing in the eyes of the university. Add to that the fact that many of us also have work or have other commitments that take up time for study, and you have a massively stressful environment to have to deal with.
This is why we would like to take this opportunity to tell all of you to do your best to take care of yourselves, physically and mentally. While it is important to do well in your classes, it isn’t worth destroying yourself over. If you start feeling yourself starting to go crazy, take a break. If you are starting to get restless, take some time to work through that pent up energy.
And if things start to feel like they’re becoming too tough for you to handle, talk to someone. The CSU Counseling Center is free for the first few visits, and it actually is a good way to work through workloads, stress, problems you have with classes etc.
All the same, hang in there everyone.
