Tissue from a pig’s bladder may prove to be an essential part of regrowing tissue after a south Florida doctor used it to regrow a man’s finger.
After having part of his finger bitten off by a difficult horse, Paul Halpern visited a hospital in Delray Beach with his finger in a bag. After examining the injury, Doctor Eugenio Rodriguez decided to try an experimental treatment, despite the insurance agency’s request for amputation.
“This is something, that there actually is no experience into this,” Dr. Rodriguez said to CBS Miami.
The use of the experimental treatment was able to successfully regrow Halpern’s finger.
