FoCoMX, one of Fort Collins biggest music festivals, is coming up soon — April 19 and 20 to be exact. Here are a few bands to look out for. The full lineup can be seen on the FoCoMX website at focomx.focoma.org.
If you’ve ever wondered what rock, folk, animal noises and witty banter sounds like on stage, check out Ambassador Wolf. This band is composed of four engineering graduate students who also know how to rock out. Sometimes they wear wolf-head hats, too. I don’t know what else you could possibly want.
Rachel and the Kings
A newbie group to the stages of Fort Collins — or anywhere for that matter — this band has yet to celebrate its two month anniversary of togetherness. Don’t let this fool you; Rachel and the Kings won Ford’s national “Gimme the Gig II” competition, earning them an impressive amount of notice from legendary producer, Don Was. The band includes two former artists from local band Tickle Me Pink, Joey Barba and Stefan Runstrom.
After a six month hiatus, Stella Luce returns to charm the pants off of Fort Collins with a new drummer in tow. Sean Speer, former drummer for local band Thrifty Astronaut, will be joining this quirky, electric beat. Fierce Bad Rabbit vocalist, Alana Rolfe, will also be returning along with her co-veteran of Fort Collins music, Brett Schreiber.
Local artist Maxwell Hughes may have started as a self-taught Battle of the Bands winning guitarist, but today he is known as the co-author of two Lumineers songs and award winner in the prestigious International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship in Winfield, KS. His intricate techniques have won fans across oceans but especially back home in good ol’ FoCo.
